The Nation Party

It turned out, the Nation Party was much better than my expectation. This year it was held at the Hilton hotel on the beautiful Karon beach in Phuket. It was my first time to be a part of this fabulous Asian circuit party.

We, four of us, flew to Phuket on Friday afternoon. Not too many people were there when we first checked in. But just two hours later, the reception was packed with people, I would say, from around the world. It was like a reunion party for me because I met several friends from Thailand and New York City.

Most of people I talked to were so excited about the party. They had prepared different costume for different theme each night. Me? Nothing, with this hot weather, I thought all clothes would fly off later anyway.

I have to say I was blown away by the music in the party. I thought the music that would be playing in the party must be like more vocal or light house beat. But I was totally wrong. Since the first night, the Military Ball, De Leon started the party with the very energetic tribal beat. I thought I was dancing in my favorite Alegria party. Then the second night, I would say the best night, Tony Moran, one of my favorite DJs, conquered the Nation circuit scene with his dark house and upbeat music. I think that night was his best performance. There were some new mixed he brought with him to the Nation. When the light was on at 6 am; everyone, including me, was chanting his name. He humbly took a bow to all Asian circuit boys then the light was off again and he played- You’ll Never Stand Alone by Whitney Houston as the last song. Once the song started, everyone was flying. The night was even better because I totally fell in love with one Japanese dancer that night. Once I grabbed a glimpse of him dancing with the office uniform, I dragged my girlfriend to dance right in front of him. I think he was the most beautiful dancers on the stage that night; he was very flirtatious, cute smile with dimples and a great dancer.

The last night, Kate Monroe did blow me away with her happy house music. It was my first time that I listened to her music. It was surprisingly good. Before the party that night, all my friends told me to dance less crazy in order to let someone have a chance to talk to me, and I agreed. However, when the music was up, I totally forgot my plan. I started dancing like no tomorrow. My friend and I agreed that we would never find anyone that night because the way we danced had scared people away.

The beach was just across a small street but I did not have a chance to explore this beautiful beach, even once. The entire three days our life cycle started at 11 pm dancing until 6 am, went to the after hour until 9 am, then had breakfast and went to bed.

Everyday I went back with my wet jean and underwear.

Alas it was the last Nation party. But I am glad I had a chance to have the last dance in this fabulous party with all good old friends and new friends.
