Republicans are happier than Democrats

My friend sent me the result of the survey of 3,014 telephone respondents. About 45 percent of Republicans said they were very happy, compared with 30 percent of Democrats. When adjusting the income base, poor Republicans are still happier than poor Democrats and rich Republicans are also happier than rich Democrats.

Actually, it does not really surprise me. Statically, the Republicans constituents are white males, small investors and business men, while the Democrats’ constituents are minority, low income people, working class people and women. Even though the money cannot buy everything, it surely can solve most of the problems in daily life.

Happiness shines when we have fewer problems.

If we adjust the money factor, the Republican still trump the Democrats. I believe religion plays the key role here. Republicans are more religious than Democrats. They go to church more and pray more. According to the medical research, people who are religious tend to be happier than people who are not.

They are comforted by the belief of having God on their side.

Another factor I would add is the geographic factor. Most of Democrats live in the big city while the vast majority of Republicans live in the rural area. So the rush of city life, the cut-throat competition and how people interact to each other will totally affect people happiness. While people who live in the rural area tend to enjoy their easy going life and the community bond is closer than the big city

The social support, I believe, is stronger.

No wonder, why Republicans are happier than Democrats.

Just my two cents anyway, perhaps there are other reasons that make Republicans happier than Democrats. Bush in the White House? Probably.

30 to 2

There is a piece of shocking news from Bangkok. Two teen girls aged 14 and 15 year old were raped by 30 young men aged around 16-20 year old. These 30 criminals separated into 2 groups, 15 each and gangbanged those girls. Pathetically, some boys used the plastic bags instead of condom to rape these two girls. OUCH!!!

Most of the time when this kind of incident happens, when asked about the motivation of raping those women, these horny men always give crappy reasons like “Oh because her skirt is too short so I cannot resist my urge.” or “She flirts with me so I think she is interested.”

The society always denounces those men from hell but they also blame on those women that their too sexy dress is a trigger to the rape incident. Though I think that argument has some merits, it is the right of every woman to dress whatever they want to and that should not be a reason for those criminals to use as an alibi. I believe those sick men will rape anyone in front of them anyway if they cannot control their horniness. So no matter how much those women try to be careful about the way they dress, they will still be victims. We have heard the news of 70 years old woman and 1 year old girl get raped before.

I think the only way to scare these criminals is to cut their tool that they use to rape those women and then put them to the jail that is full with other horny criminals.

Let them have the taste of being raped and gangbanged by those tough guys.

I hope they will not like it.

The West

Just finish watching The West- an excellent documentary by the historian and academy award nominee Ken Burns. I’d like to recommend these 5 DVD set to anyone who is interested in the history of the United States before it became a super power. Ken Burns magnificently creates this film with all precious and old photographs, maps, letters and newspapers to bring to life of the people in the 19th century.

The West is a story of the struggles and challenges the Americans had during the westward expansion. The West was a land of hope and redemption. It was a place that people who were dreaming of a better life rushed to or those who were running away from failure or crime to find a new life. On one side, it is a story of a glorious hope and a spirit of those people who did not give up on the hardships. However, another side of the story portrays the ugliness of the Americans that destroyed millions of life of those native Indians.

It is a heartbreak story for the native Indians that no matter how long it has happened or it will be, they will never forget. Even at present, there are millions of Indians who cannot get over with this deep wound. Some Indians in those reservations still find drugs and alcohol as an outlet to forget their pain. Some turn the gun to their heads.

How many times they were lied by the Washington? How many treaties they made with the Whites were torn when the Americans wanted their land?

Millions of Indians were pushed out of their beloved land that held their ancestors’ bodies. The Trail of Tears and the massacre at Wounded Knee were the scars that the American will not forget for what they had done to those helpless people.

It is sad that most of those whites sailed across the Atlantic to escape the broken system of those monarchy and feudalism that produced the lack of equality just to create one here in the new world. Perhaps, as long as you have the same skin color as theirs, you will receive that equal rights as they have. However, if you don’t, you have to sacrifice whatever you have to make their life better. Black people were brought to be slaves. Native Indians were mercilessly slaughtered. The Chinese were excluded from the society after their hardworking of building the railroads was done. The Mexicans were driven out of their homeland in order to sacrifice their land to the new comers.

The West is very rich with the story of hopes and tragedies. It portrays the Darwinism theory of only the strongest and most adaptive species will survive.

This documentary also makes me think that even though most of the conflicts derive from the economics reasons it is the human nature that they tend to be able to create conflicts no matter where they are. If they have the same skin color, they will kill each other because of a difference of ethnicity. If they have the same ethnicity, they will kill each other because of a difference of religions. When they are in a homogeneous society, they will kill each other for the political reason.

Perhaps, deep in our genes, we are created to destroy each other whenever we can.
