I found this small piece of news from New York Times.
Finally, Pope Benedict has ordered his church to investigate the use of condom and its benefits of preventing people from dying of AIDS. They said the use of condom was a lesser evil than allowing this disease spread around the world. It is a sin for any Catholics to use any forms of birth control including condom. It is against God’s will of creating more life on this planet.

In recent years, several top church officials have spoken of condom use, disapproved by the Vatican, as a possible "lesser evil" if the other option is spreading disease.
